I'm an indie author and illustrator living in Yorkshire, England with my partner and our two cats Jet and Pixie.
I have my parents to thank for my vivid imagination - they fed my early reading and drawing addiction! I spent years in the school library and in bed with a torch, unable to stop reading. At home, I had a 'making table', where mum and dad contained my arty mess! The first story I remember writing as a child is about a clever fox (that tale is long lost!). At school, if I wasn't reading a book under my desk, I was getting told off for drawing in all my classwork books!
Mostly I'm inspired by nature, fantasy art and fiction, and my creative friends around the world. I'm motivated to succeed at whatever I try, and I like to experiment. Being an indie author is a tremendously exciting experience! I usually work best when fuelled by earl grey tea, margherita pizza and characters who won't do what they're told. Generally, I prefer to live in mine or other peoples' fictional worlds (where bills and chores don't exist) and am still waiting for my Hogwarts letter.
I have a First Class BA (Hons) degree in Primary Education and previously worked in accountancy. I've completed a variety of illustration projects, mainly digital fantasy/semi-realism paintings. In my spare time, when not writing, reading, drawing or 'adulting', I enjoy recurve archery, hiking, gardening and cooking. I like to invent and learn languages too - I'm currently inventing the language of the Eldarkind for my Caledan series, which is based on Northern European languages.
